How did you come up with your name and number?
My name is the title of a Bikini Kill song. I was struggling to pick a name when I started and I was really into them in my early 20s. My number is actually my mom’s birthday.

When did you start playing or getting involved in roller derby? How/why did you decide to start?
I started playing in 2012. I was in college and had recently seen Whip It (typical). I had no idea how to get involved and didn’t even know we had teams in Louisiana. Luckily, I found the Cajun Rollergirls through someone that knew someone on the team.

Do you have any short term or long term derby goals??
No goals! I just take each season as it comes.

What position on the track do you play/prefer? (Refs & NSOs included!)
I’ve only been a jammer throughout my derby career. Although I secretly want to be a blocker!

Favorite derby memory?
Breaking my skate in the first half of a game. My plate came off my boot. I ended up on the opposing team’s bench unable to get up. My coach ran up to me, taped my plate to my boot, and i went out and scored a few points in that jam. I ended up getting MVP jammer that game.

What does your life look like outside of roller derby?
I’m married and we have the best dog. I work in the tech industry by day. I also enjoy crossfit, traveling, and DIY projects.

Do you have any specific pre-bout rituals or prepping you do?
2 scoops of honey and a moment of mental silence to calm my nerves.

What do you like to do after a game?
Afterparty, duh!

What is some advice you’d give to someone who may be interested in joining roller derby?
Just do it! I sucked at roller derby for a very long time and those games were ROUGH. But through all of that, I met one of my best friends through roller derby. I’ve gotten to play abroad in the UK and even got to practice with Ireland’s mens world cup team. Roller derby has given me so many cool opportunities and memories. It’s also a great ice breaker!
