How did you come up with your name and number?
I’m originally from Kansas, and people like to reference Dorothy Gail from The Wizard of Oz. My first number was F5, for the highest tornado classification, but when we had to take out letters, the highest recorded wind speed was close to 205 mph.

When did you start playing roller derby/get involved with roller derby? How did you get involved?
I started practicing in 2010, and had my first game in March 2011. I went to an interest meeting for a new league, and just kept showing up.

Is there another skater that you look up to?
There have been several over the years, but right now I like Galaxy Inferno from Oklahoma and Merry Khaos from PA/FL/PA.

What kind of skates do you skate on?
Crazy skates 3 boot and Venus plates for indoor, and my original Suregrips for outside.

Do you have any short term or long term Derby Goals?
I need to get better at taking hits again, I haven’t been able to play higher level derby for many years now.

If you’re a ref, whats your favorite or least favorite penalty to call?
When I ref, I like to call directionals, and hate calling things like false starts.

What position on the track do you play/prefer?
I prefer not to jam, but like pivoting, love blocking, and will ref anywhere.

What do you like to do after a game?
Eat!

Favorite derby memory?
My first tournament in Hawaii, we got there early and went to Volcano National Park.

What is some advice you’d give to someone who may be interested in joining roller derby?
It will probably be difficult, but it can be so much fun. I love being able to find a group of people as weird as me no matter where we move.

What is the one song you blast on game day to get you PUMPED?
Wait for it.

What does your life look like outside of roller derby?
Driving my kids everywhere and trying to keep everything together, especially if my husband is gone for work.

How did you hear about the Big Easy Roller Derby?
They’ve been around for a long time, but I also have friends in the area that play.
